About Jake — Boxing & Strength Coach, Auckland | Jake's Boxing & Fitness

The Coach

Built through
work,
not talent.

I wasn't naturally gifted. I wasn't athletic. I wasn't special. I was willing to work — and that's why I coach the way I do.

Train With Jake See the Programs

How it started

I met boxing through obsession. The first time I saw Mike Tyson fight, I didn't just see violence. I saw power. Control. Presence. I wanted that.

My first day in the gym wasn't heroic.

I couldn't do a single push-up.
I wasn't talented.
I wasn't athletic.
I was just consistent.

And over time — that changed everything. The gym became the one place where effort had a direct return, where showing up mattered more than natural ability.

That lesson never left me. It became the foundation of how I coach.

Who is Jake?

Boxing Coach · Strength & Conditioning Specialist · Auckland, NZ

Jake has been coaching boxing and fitness for over 13 years — from complete beginners stepping into a gym for the first time, to competitive athletes preparing for fight night. His track record is built through the people he has trained in person, not through invented claims about an online programme.

What separates his coaching is not intensity alone — it is understanding. He teaches athletes to understand their own movement, so they leave every session with something permanent: knowledge they can take anywhere. The Boxer's Code is designed to carry that same teaching philosophy into a structured online format.

Outside the gym, Jake competes in grappling and applies the same framework to every discipline — standard over speed, understanding over volume, fundamentals over flash.

"My goal is to make myself redundant. If you leave every session knowing more than you did before — I've done my job."

Built through years of
blood, sweat & work

The version of Jake that coaches today wasn't handed anything. It was built — rep by rep, round by round, session after session when nobody was watching.

20km runs — building the engine first
200kg deadlift — proving strength is built, not given
10 hard rounds on the bag or sparring
Training even when no one was watching
"I wasn't chasing a title. I was chasing the version of myself I knew I could become. That's still what I help my athletes do."

Why I coach

The thing I love most isn't fighting. It's transformation.

I love seeing someone walk into the gym unsure of themselves — hesitant, convinced they're not athletic enough or fit enough or whatever enough. Then watching their confidence grow week after week as they realise what they're actually capable of.

That moment when they realise:

"I can actually do this."

That's everything.

I know what it feels like to walk into a room and feel like the weakest person there. So now, I build it in others. That's not a marketing line — it's the reason I've been doing this for over a decade, and why I'll keep doing it.

The coaching philosophy

Four principles behind every session — what separates deliberate development from going through the motions.

Power
Confidence
Skill
Discipline
Identity

I don't train you to be dependent on me. I train you to become powerful and capable — on your own.

Most training fails not because people don't work hard enough, but because it lacks structure. High-intensity chaos, generic plans, coaches who count reps and call it coaching.

My programs are built on a different model. Foundations drilled until automatic. Each session with a clear purpose. The goal isn't just fitness — it's producing someone who can train correctly, independently, for life.

My goal is to build someone who:

Understands the art of boxing
Moves with purpose and control
Stays composed under pressure
Thinks like a fighter — on and off the bag
"Boxing isn't just throwing punches. It's becoming someone stronger than you were yesterday."
Start Training
01
Foundations That Don't Break
Correct movement installed so deeply it becomes automatic. No shortcuts. No guessing. The fundamentals are the program.
02
Clarity That Builds Confidence
You understand exactly what you're doing and why. When athletes understand the reason behind the work, hesitation disappears.
03
Pressure Applied With Precision
Intensity introduced deliberately — building resilience and performance over time. Not chaos. Not volume. Purpose.
04
Independence as the Goal
The goal isn't to create dependency on a coach. It's to equip athletes to train correctly long after the program ends.

"Training with Jake has completely changed my perspective on fitness. I used to see the gym as a chore, but his adaptive approach has me looking forward to every session. He truly listens and tailors each workout to my physical and mental state. With his emphasis on perfect form, I'm now lifting heavier than I ever imagined. If you want a trainer who gets real results by working on both body and mind — he's a true coach."

"Originally I planned to work with Jake for about six weeks to sort out my form. Fast forward ten months, and I'm still training with him every week. He helped me tap into my own motivation and work through mental barriers I'd built for myself. I've become so much stronger — physically, but also mentally. He meets you where you're at each day, but still gets the best out of you."
